The Gmina Lutowiska is a rural municipality in the powiat Bieszczadzki of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland . Their seat is the village of the same name with about 750 inhabitants.
geography
With an area of 476 km², the rural community is one of the largest communities in the country, 82 percent of which is forested. It is located in the San Valley on the northern edge of the Bieszczady (Beskids) , a low mountain range of the Carpathian Arc . Parts of their area belong to the Bieszczady National Park established in 1973 .
history
From 1944 to 1951 the area was part of the Soviet Union and was called Shevchenko / Шевченко. It was returned to Poland as part of a large area exchange . The community was then called Gmina Szewczenko until 1957 .
structure
The rural community has 2200 inhabitants and is divided into seven villages with school offices :
Chmiel, Dwernik, Lutowiska , Smolnik , Stuposiany, Ustrzyki Górne with Wołosate and Zatwarnica.
economy
The administration of the national park is located in Ustrzyki Górne. Particular emphasis is placed on environmental education and the development of sustainable tourism. Tourist resorts with numerous accommodation quarters have emerged since 1973 . There are twelve nature trails in the Lutowiska municipality as well as hiking, riding and cycling trails. A ski lift is used for winter sports. Hiking destinations are the high pastures and peaks of the Beskydy Mountains. In the upper Santal also a stud is to breed Hutsul -Pferden.
