Snagov is a municipality with approx. 7,000 inhabitants about 40 km north of the Romanian capital Bucharest in the Ilfov district . It lies on the banks of the lake of the same name.

The most famous sight is a small church from the 16th century, picturesquely situated on an island in the middle of the lake. According to legend, Vlad Țepeș is said to be buried in this church, under an unadorned white stone slab in front of the chancel. However, when the grave was opened in 1931, it is said to have been found empty.
