Tâncăbeşti or old spelling Tîncăbeşti [ ˈtɨncəbeʃtʲ ] is a village in Ilfov County in the Wallachia region in Romania . Administratively, the village belongs to the Snagov municipality .

On the European route 60 , the place is about 30 kilometers north of Bucharest . In Tâncăbeşti is the medium-wave transmitter ( ) of the Romanian radio that went into operation in 1952. With a transmission power of 1500 kW, it is one of the most powerful in Europe and can easily be received in Germany at night.

The former Romanian canoeist Ivan Patzaichin lives here .

history

Archaeological finds dating back to the Bronze Age were made on the territory of the village .

On the night of November 30, 1938, Corneliu Zelea Codreanu , the leader of Romania's fascist Iron Guard , was shot dead in the forest not far from the village .

Attractions

  • The Orthodox Church of Sf. Împăraţi Constantin şi Elena , was built in 1912.
