The Sogdian steppe candle ( Eremurus soogdianus ) is a type of plant from the genus steppe candle ( Eremurus ) in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae).

The Sogdian steppe candle is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 50 to 80 (rarely 20 to 150) centimeters. It forms rhizomes . The stem is hairy below. The leaves are narrow linear. The outer leaves are glabrous or hairy and 4 to 7 (rarely up to 15) millimeters wide. The inflorescence is conical and very loose. The outer tepals are lanceolate, 10 to 14 millimeters long. The inner ones are only nearly half the width of the outer ones. The flower stalks are up to 7.5 inches long and stand horizontally. The lower ones reach more than five times the length of the perigon. The capsule fruits have a diameter of 6 to 12 millimeters.

The flowering period extends from May to June.

Occurrence

The Sogdian steppe candle occurs in Central Asia in Tian Shan , Pamir-Alai and in northern Afghanistan in steppes as well as in rose and juniper bushes on stony slopes at altitudes of 950 to 2600 meters.
