Soljani

Soljani is a small village in the Croatian region of Slavonia not far from the border with Serbia , Bosnia-Herzegovina and belongs to the Vukovar-Syrmia County . It is located in the southern part of the Županja-Posavina province. The main roads of Soljani go in 3 directions: to Vrbanja (north), Drenovci (west) and Strošinci (south-east). The name of the village was first mentioned in 1329 (Sauly, Sali possesio) and comes from the Croatian word for salt (Croatian: Sol ). Soljani has 1,554 inhabitants (2001).
