Somari to Mori no Kamisama ( ソ マ リ と 森 の 神 様 Somali and the Forest Spirit ) is a web manga series by Yako Gureishi that has appeared in the web magazine Web Comic Zenyon published by Tokuma Shoten since April 2015 and has been published in physical form in six volumes so far Tankōbon format. In Germany , the series has been published by Manga Cult publisher since November 7, 2019 under the title Somali and the God of the Forest .

It was also announced that the manga series will be converted into an anime series that will start in Japan on January 6, 2020 .

In a world in which fantastic beings populate the earth and humanity has been displaced and almost wiped out, Golem, the god of the forest, meets the human girl Somali. He then takes on the role of a surrogate father and sets off with her to find the last surviving people. What Somali does not know is that the golem only has a year left.

Implementations

Manga

Yako Gureishi started the web manga in April 2015 and published it in the web comic Zenyon published by Tokuma Shoten . This was later produced on a printed basis and has so far produced six volumes in the tankōbon format. In Germany, the manga appears under the title Somali and the god of the forest by the Manga Cult publishing house .

Anime

On March 22, 2019, it was announced that Somari to Mori no Kamisama would be converted into an anime series . The first episode was originally supposed to be shown in October of the same year. However, a broadcast of the series was postponed to January 2020. The anime series will start on January 6, 2020.

Studio Satelight is responsible for the production of the series and has already realized several anime adaptations of the Macross franchise, directed by Kenji Yasuda . The screenplay is written by Mariko Muchizuki, the series music is composed by Ryo Yoshimata. The character design is done by Ikuko Ihto . The series airs in Japan on Tokyo MX , BS NTV and AbemaTV . Crunchyroll , who co-produces the series, simulcasts Somali and the Forest Spirit worldwide . In the United States, the first three episodes were previewed during Anime NYC in New York City between November 15 and 17, 2019. On January 2, 2020, the first episode of the anime series was shown in advance on Crunchyroll, one week before the scheduled TV broadcast in Japan.

Inori Minase speaks the protagonist Somali , while Daisuke Ono gives his voice to the forest god Golem. The rest of the voice-over cast was determined in an audition .

Naotarō Moriyama sings the song in the opening credits with Arigatō wa Kocchi no Kotoba , Inori Minase with Kokoro Somali the closing title.
