from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sondre was the official mascot of the 1994 Winter Paralympics in Lillehammer, Norway .

description

Sondre is a troll , one of the typical characters in Norse mythology . He has red hair and is wearing a green jacket and blue pants. He is amputated above the knee on his left leg . Sondre is skiing with his right leg. His character is described as youthful and friendly.

Emergence

The figure of the troll was determined through a competition in which all Norwegian schools were invited to submit designs for a mascot. The winning design came from Janne Solem, the idea was implemented by the illustrator Tor Lindrupsen. A name for the mascot was sought in a separate competition. Here the Sondre proposal won , which pays homage to Sondre Norheim , the pioneer of modern skiing .
