Wenlock and Mandeville

Wenlock and Mandeville were the official mascots of the London 2012 Olympic Games and the subsequent Paralympics .

The mascots were first introduced to the public on May 19, 2010. For the second time since the 2010 Winter Olympics , the mascots of the Olympic Games and the Paralympics were presented at the same time.

The characters Wenlock and Mandeville put two steel -Tropfen the steel industry in Bolton . Their names go back to the place Much Wenlock , where in 1850 the Wenlock Olympian Games , a forerunner of the modern Olympic Games had taken place, as well as Stoke Mandeville , a place in Buckinghamshire where the first World Wheelchair and Amputee Championships were held.
