Sonic the Hedgehog is the German version of the two cartoon series Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (AoStH) and Sonic the Hedgehog (also Sonic SatAM ) of the Sonic - franchises . Both American series date back to 1993 and are based on the video game Sonic the Hedgehog , which is about a nimble blue hedgehog. Both series were cut together to a German version under the name Sonic the crazy Igel . The series was shown on Kabel 1 at Bim Bam Bino and on RTL II at Vampy .

AoStH

content

The action takes place on Sonic's home planet Mobius. The series uses slapstick humor to describe everyday life between Sonic the hedgehog and the scientist Robotnik, who is trying to gain control of the planet. Sonic is supported by his friend Tails, a two-tailed fox who can fly with them. Sonic and Tails always manage to thwart Robotnik's evil plans.

Characters

Sonic the hedgehog
Sonic is a blue hedgehog who can reach top speeds with his fast feet. He had his first real appearance in 1991 in the Sega mega-drive game Sonic the Hedgehog, which is also the founder of the Sonic series. Together with his friend Tails, he thwarts the evil plans of the insane Dr. Robotnik. He is easily arrogant, can be impatient and has a strong sense of justice. His favorite food is hot dogs with chillies (called chilliedogs). Because of his intelligence, it is easy for him to outsmart Robotnik's minions. In Sonic SatAM he fights against Robotnik together with Sally Acorn and the freedom fighters.
Miles Tails Prower
Tails is a two-tailed fox and Sonic's best friend. He is only 4½ years old at the beginning of the series and therefore does not have as much life experience as Sonic, which is why he usually falls into one of Robotnik's traps. With its two tails it can generate a propeller and thus fly. He not only sees Sonic as a friend, but also as a kind of big brother and also a great role model. His real name is Miles Prower. But since he doesn't like this name, Sonic gave him the name Tails, which refers to his two tails. In Sonic SatAM its role is rather subordinate.
Dr. Ivo Robotnik
Dr. Ivo Robotnik is Sonic the hedgehog's archenemy , who has thwarted his evil plans in the past. He wants to take over the world, which Sonic always thwarted. In order to get rid of Sonic he created the robots Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts, but they also fail to bring Sonic down. He is a severely overweight human character with a large pink nose, a bald head, and a distinctive orange mustache. In Sonic SatAM he already masters Mobius, his appearance there corresponds to that of Sonic Underground.
Scratch and Grounder
Scratch and Grounder are the chaotic duo of the series. Scratch has the appearance of a humanoid big rooster, Grounder is a robot that moves like a bulldozer and has drill arms. They were created by Robotnik to get Sonic and Tails out of the way, but they're not particularly smart and are often tricked by Sonic. Sometimes they almost manage to capture Sonic and Tails, but eventually fail because of their own stupidity or Sonic's advice. Grounder made his first real appearance as an opponent in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Scratch, however, only made his first appearance in the series.
Coconutz
Coconutz is a little red monkey robot that was also built by Robotnik to take down Sonic. Even though he's smarter than Scratch and Grounder, he doesn't manage to catch Sonic. Like Grounder, he also comes from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, where he was also an opponent.
Supporting characters
The supporting characters who appear several times in the series include Mama Robotnik, Robotnik Jr., Professor von Schlemmer and Breezie the robot hedgehog girl. Other supporting characters with only one appearance are z. B. Prince Chalow the Alien, Wes Weasley the Representative, Catty Carlisle the Singer and the Bear Brothers.

Episodes

Sonic AoStH consists of 66 episodes in total, 65 of which are normal episodes, while the final episode is a special episode. This was not broadcast on German television.

Sonic SatAM

content

Sonic SatAM is the second Sonic series that, unlike AoStH, covers more serious topics and a more engaging story. It was created in the USA at the same time as AoStH, but was combined in the German version with this to form a series. There Sonic fights against Robotnik together with freedom fighters. The series is similar in some parts to the later Sonic Underground series , as the gloomy atmosphere and the theme of the warlike underground struggle against a dictator are common elements. Since 2012, the series runs on the payment transmitter KidsCo separated from AoStH under the name of Sonic the blue hedgehog with a new synchronization and a German theme song. In contrast to AoStH, Sonic SatAM only consists of 26 episodes, which, however, were produced in two seasons. The series was discontinued in the USA in 1994 after a cliffhanger .

Characters

Sally Acorn
Sally is the princess of Mobius and the leader of the freedom fighters who fight against Robotnik. In the series she is Sonic's friend, with whom she fights against Robotnik together. She also appears in the popular Sonic comics, where she even married Sonic uncanonically.
Bunnie Rabbot
A cyborg - rabbit girl , which was half robotized by Robotnik before she could be saved. As a result of this event, her left arm and legs are mechanical, which, however, comes in handy when fighting Robotnik's army. Still, she wants to be normal again.
Antoine Depardieu (D´Coolete in the comic)
Antoine is a goofy, cowardly coyote who speaks with a French accent. He keeps an eye on Sally, which is why Sonic is his rival . In the first season his character was still quite smart, but too cowardly, in the second season he became more clumsy, fearful and dumber.
Rotor (walrus)
A walrus who invents useful things for the freedom fighters. He fears Robotropolis and, unlike Sonic, usually stays behind at work. When the comics started, his first name was Boomer.
NICOLE
NICOLE is a sophisticated portable computer that helps Sally analyze and hack Robotnik's machines.
Sir Charles Hedgehog (called Uncle Chuck)
The old blue hedgehog Chuck is Sonic's uncle , who invented the robotizer to prolong his life, but which was stolen from him by Robotnik, who misused it for his robot army. Chuck also appears in Sonic Underground.
Dulcy (the Dragon)
Dulcy is a clumsy, loud-mouthed dragon who only appears in the second season. He flies the freedom fighters to their destinations or rescues them, but hardly seems to make good landings.
