The ring-shaped solar eclipse of October 3, 2005 was observable in its partial phase in the morning and noon hours from Central Europe . Its circular course began in the North Atlantic and went over the Iberian Peninsula , the Mediterranean Sea and through North and East Africa . At about the height of the equator , the central line of the darkness in the Indian Ocean continued in an easterly direction. The maximum of the eclipse was reached in Sudan , where the ring-shaped phase lasted 4 minutes and 31.5 seconds, the maximum width of the ring-shaped zone was 164 kilometers.
Observations
Due to the relatively good accessibility and the German Unity Day, which falls on a Monday , there was some eclipse tourism, which, however, lagged far behind the extent of the total solar eclipse of August 11, 1999 .
Sharp shadows, a short pearl effect and a significant cooling could be perceived.
The following solar eclipses in Spain
For Spain, this was the first of eight central solar eclipses in the 21st century, three of which were total and five annular eclipses. This is followed by the total solar eclipses of August 12, 2026 , August 2, 2027 and September 12, 2053 , as well as the annular solar eclipses of January 26, 2028 , November 5, 2059 , July 13, 2075 and February 27, 2082 .
