Sonny Landham

William M. "Sonny" Landham (born February 11, 1941 in Canton , Cherokee County , Georgia - † August 17, 2017 in Lexington , Kentucky ) was an American actor .

Acting

Landham was born in Canton in 1941 as a descendant of Cheroke Indians . After finishing school, he joined the army , from which he was dishonorably discharged after three years.

Landham starred in several porn films in the 1970s, including The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann . He played his first Hollywood role in Walter Hills' controversial gang war film The Warriors in 1979 . Hill hired him a few years later for The Last Americans and his hit film Just 48 Hours . He later also starred in the action film Predator . Landham was extremely muscular and therefore played mainly in action films. He spent three years in prison from 1998 to 2001 for harassing his wife - the marriage was in the process of divorce.

Landham joined the Republican Party and ran for governor of Kentucky in 2002 . In 2003, however, he announced his withdrawal from the candidacy. His efforts to be elected to the Kentucky Senate in 2004 were also unsuccessful .

Sonny Landham also spoke at a meeting of the Racist Council of Conservative Citizens in 2005 . In the spring of 2006, Landham was accepted as an honorary member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Association of the American University .

On September 19, 2006, he was so badly injured in a car accident in Ashland , Kentucky that both legs had to be amputated.

On June 25, 2008, Landham announced his candidacy for the US Senate . He wanted to run as a candidate for the Libertarian Libertarian Party . On the same day he called for the genocide of the Arabs , whom he referred to as camel shit shippers , rag heads and camel jockeys . He made these anti-Arab and inhuman comments in an interview with the radio show The Weekly Filibuster . Three days later, Kentucky libertarians unanimously voted to withdraw Landham's candidacy because his views were inconsistent with their values.
