Location of Soubdou in Niger

Soubdou is a village in the Gouré municipality in Niger .

The village is located around 33 kilometers southeast of the city center of Gouré, which belongs to the Gouré department of the same name in the Zinder region. National Road 1 , the country's most important trunk road, runs through Soubdou .

Soubdou was originally about two kilometers further south. By the mid-1970s, the settlement moved directly up to the newly built National Road 1. The city of Diffa , around 227 kilometers to the east, was attacked in February 2015 by the jihadist terrorist group Boko Haram from Nigeria . As early as May 2013, around 150,000 people from neighboring Nigeria had fled to Diffa because of the activities of Boko Haram. Soubdou was now one of the places that took in refugees from Diffa.

At the 2012 census, Soubdou had 5741 inhabitants who lived in 858 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 1,611 in 321 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 900 in 197 households.

There is a cattle market in the village. The market day is Saturday.
