Specialized Academy for Social Pedagogy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fachakademie für Sozialpädagogik (FakS) is a training center for educators in Bavaria . It can essentially be compared with the technical schools for social education in other federal states in Germany . There are currently 65 specialist academies for social education.

history

The forerunners of today's specialist academies for social education were in the beginning so-called child care nurses' schools , teaching courses for toddler teachers, teaching courses for directors of custody institutions, kindergarten teacher seminars and others, with most of the training centers being under church / monastic sponsorship. The first course for the training of kindergarten teachers was launched in Munich in 1843 by the poor school winners in the Angerkloster.

In 1908 the first state regulation of training took place in Prussia and thus the safeguarding of professional minimum standards of vocational training. These training regulations were a model for the other German states. The first state ordinances were issued in Bavaria in 1911. As a result, seminars, including private ones, were subordinated to the ministry. In Bavaria, most of the seminars were sponsored by a monastery, with the ones most recommended at the time (1928):

  1. The kindergarten after-school seminar for the poor school sisters in the Angerkloster in Munich.
  2. The kindergarten resp. Hortseminar of the Engl. Miss to Haag in Upper Bavaria, and to Aschaffenburg in Lower Franconia.
  3. The kindergarten teachers' seminar of the star women in Nördlingen and Augsburg.
  4. The kindergarten seminar for the poor Franciscan nuns in Dillingen.
  5. The kindergarten teachers' seminar in Würzburg-Oberzell.
  6. The kindergarten teachers' seminar of the Franciscan Sisters in Mallersdorf.
  7. The kindergarten teachers' seminar at the Crescentia monastery in Kaufbeuren.
  8. The kindergarten teacher seminar at Marienberg Abbey in Abenberg.

All seminars have state final exams.

In 1928, a ministerial decree changed the training situation: the kindergarten teacher training (which until then lasted one or two years) was combined in a two-year course.

During the Nazi dictatorship , the existing seminars were brought into line, many denominational training centers were dissolved, and NSV seminars were launched (e.g. in Friedberg near Augsburg , Steinenhausen Castle near Kulmbach ). For the seminars sponsored by the church, the Bayer decreed . State Ministry for Education and Culture:

The denominational socio-pedagogical seminars are to be transferred to a public, corporate school body in the course of this year ... The leaders [...] must be informed that new admissions will no longer take place at the beginning of the 1941/42 school year.

After the Second World War , quick and special courses were set up in order to meet the increased need for trained kindergarten teachers. Attending this was tied to the condition that the graduates later undergo retraining. The reopened or newly created schools were called seminars for youth care, technical schools for kindergarten teachers , seminars for kindergarten teachers and, since 1968, technical schools for social education. The reorganization of the vocational school system in Bavaria in 1972 led to another change: The technical schools for social education were converted into specialist academies for social education, which, in addition to the professional training of educators, also enable the acquisition of the subject-related technical college or university entrance qualification.

At the moment (2012) there is heated discussion about whether the training should be shortened by one year. In this regard, there are many different views on the pros and cons of abbreviation. Margret Langenmayr believes, among other things, that the loud call for shortening the training [seems] to be less related to the qualitative further development of the training, as it is continuously necessary, but to the expectation that more young women and men will be motivated in the profession to take.

Admission criteria

Admission to a specialist academy for social pedagogy requires a middle school or educational qualification and a completed initial vocational training, i. d. R. to the nanny, ahead. Applicants with an intermediate level of education receive this through the social pedagogical seminar. Graduates of the secondary school receive the vocational qualification by attending the vocational school for child care or social care and with an average grade of 3.0 and at least sufficient English skills, the middle school qualification.

education

The training is divided into the social pedagogical seminar and the post-secondary course with the practical year.

Socio-educational seminar

The social pedagogical seminar (SPS) usually lasts two years and replaces the previously mandatory pre-study internship. It serves to get to know operational processes and the work areas of the educator as well as the previous education in the social care area. The SPS is completed with a practical exam as well as written exams in pedagogy / psychology and German to become a state-certified nanny .

Education

The course lasts 2 years plus the practical year (professional internship) and a mostly two-year social pedagogical seminar as entry requirements. In subjects such as pedagogy , sociology , practice and methodology, rhythm or jurisprudence , students learn one for work in various social institutions ( kindergarten , school club , nursery , youth work etc.) skills training. It is concluded with an oral examination in practical and methodical studies and written examinations in pedagogy / psychology / curative pedagogy as well as literary and media pedagogy or theology . In addition, the subject-related technical college entrance qualification and the additional subject mathematics the general technical college entrance qualification can be obtained with a supplementary examination in English . Upon reaching this degree and an average grade of 1.5 or better, the graduates also achieve the subject-related higher education entrance qualification , which enables university studies in the pedagogical field.

Internship

In the internship, the previous theoretical and practical knowledge should be applied and further deepened with collectively agreed pay. It concludes with an oral exam, the colloquium and a practical exam. In addition, a specialist thesis on a pedagogical problem has to be written in the internship this year.

Training variants

15 specialist academies are testing the teacher training with optimized practical phases in a pilot project .

In contrast to the previous form of training, all variants provide for a continuous contract and thus also remuneration with or through a provider, similar to dual training . In addition, the training period will be shortened to four or three years.
