Spice was a German radio group from Hanover .

The group is classified as funk , although their music also contains stylistic elements of soul , easy listening and pop . It was founded by Sven Kaiser and Kai Uwe Lipphardt.

The instrumental pieces in particular were used as background or in-between music (e.g. WDR 5 Morgenecho).

history

The debut album Fred's Bowling Center was released in 1994 after the band had already played a few concerts, among others. a. as opening act for Maceo Parker ( Lord have mercy, what a fonkey band! ) and at the MTV European Music Award , as well as in various clubs in Hanover (e.g. "Bad"). Before the release of the second album, the band performed under the name “Ecips” (Spice backwards) in Cafe Glocksee due to legal problems with the record company “incognito” (insiders knew) and gave a concert where they only played cover songs . Instrumental was u. a. played the theme song of the television series "Raumpatrouille Orion".

After the release of their second album, Vario bel Air (1996), apart from live performances, the group became quiet and fans had to wait until 2005 for a final album entitled 69 Overdrive to be released. At this point the band was already history, although the band's website suggests that it will continue to exist.

Some band members (Ingo, Margot, Sven, Kai) took part in the production of " Alice in Wonderland " (text: Roland Schimmelpfennig , music: Mousse T. ) of the Hanover theater from 2003 onwards . Sven Kaiser acted as a ghostwriter for Mousse T. Sven Kaiser works as a composer for theater music at schauspielhannover, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Theater Basel and the Salzburg Festival and has also been writing film music since 2007, most recently for projects at Cinema Jenin and NDR . His new band project is called Astonished Astronauts . The only album of the project has remained unreleased. Martin appears at Soulounge , among others . According HAZ Ingo, Sven and Margot on the disc have Pictures of Timo Maas worked, Martin revealed in Loud . Kai Uwe Lipphardt makes short films and commercials and has a small production company (Lenscleaner) in Hanover. Uli Schuster works as a photographer.
