The pointed-billed wood warbler ( Vermivora ) are a songbird genus consisting of nine species in the family of the wood warbler (Parulidae). The small birds are widespread from North America to Central America . Their breeding areas are in North America. Over the winter they migrate to the south of North America and Central America. Some species have also been identified as rare wanderers in the extreme west of Europe . The yellow-fronted wood warbler ( Vermivora bachmanii ), which inhabited swamps and lowland forests in southeastern North America, is considered extinct.
