The Split 1700 was a ferry of the Panama- based Blue Line International , which entered service in 1966 as Crown Prince Carl Gustaf . The ship stayed in service until 2010 and was scrapped in India in 2011 .

Crown Prince Carl Gustaf

The Kronprins Carl Gustaf was built under construction number 646 at Nobiskrug in Rendsburg and launched on January 26, 1966. After the takeover by A / B Bonnierföretagen on May 12, 1966, the ship was put into service on May 14 on the route from Halmstad via Copenhagen to Travemünde .

In 1967 the Crown Prince Carl Gustaf went to the Trave Line and in 1969 to Lion Ferry , which they used first under charter and from 1971 under their own ship management between Malmö and Travemünde.

Wilanow

In 1975 Polferries took over the ship under the name Wilanow . From then on it was used between Ystad and Świnoujście (Swinoujscie), but was also in service on other routes during its service life for the shipping company. On January 5, 1997, was Wilanow for more than twenty years in the service of Polferries in Gdansk launched .

Split 1700

In April 1997, Panama-based SEM Maritime Inc. took over the ship under the name Split 1700 . In June of the same year it was put into service for the Blue Line International on the route from Split to Ancona . Since 1999 it has also been in use between Vis , Hvar and Ancona in the summer months . On April 18, 2010, the Split 1700 completed its last crossing for Blue Line and was then laid up in Split.

After a six-month layover, the ship was sold to a demolition yard in India in October 2010. The Split 1700 arrived in Alang on December 2, 2010 , where it was pulled onto the beach for scrapping two days later at the scrapping yards near Alang . The demolition work on the ship began in January 2011.
