The passenger ship Spree-Prinzessin was built in 1953 at the Franke shipyard in Berlin - Spandau and put into service as Brigitte .

history

The Brigitte was built in 1953 at the Franke shipyard in Spandau for the shipping company Hans Liptow. She had a length of 22.00 meters and the engine in the foredeck. In 1965 Hans Liptow had it extended to 32.00 meters. With the purchase of the shipping company Liptow on April 9, 1974, Heinz Riedel also took over the Brigitte .

In 2000, the ship underwent its last renovation at the Georg Placke GmbH shipyard in Aken on the Elbe , which was almost like a new building. The previously 32.00 meter long ship was first shortened by 6.00 meters at the stern and then lengthened by 14.00 meters, making it almost 40.00 meters. The ship's bottom was completely renewed, the engine room relocated from the front to the aft , and a Schottel drive and a new generator set were installed. The catering area was completely renewed, the ship received new windows, stabilization for the upper deck and a retractable wheelhouse. The final interior work took place in Berlin. Only the foredeck of the Spree princess is reminiscent of the former Brigitte .

Berlin fairytale ship

Since 2004, the Spree Princess has been sailing the Berlin waters every summer as a Berlin fairy tale ship . The campaign is supported by the federal government, politicians, diplomats, artists and the Märchenland association.

48 hours Neukölln

As a partner of the 48 Hours Neukölln event, the Riedel shipping company provides the Spree Princess every year to show those interested in art on the waterway from the Wildenbruch Bridge or to bring them to them.
