Sreto Ristić (born February 7, 1976 in Zagreb , Yugoslavia ) is a former Serbian football player and current football coach .
Career as a player
Ristić grew up with his family in Zagreb until 1991. In Germany he joined the juniors of SSV Reutlingen 05 and began an apprenticeship as a plant mechanic for supply technology. At the beginning of 1997, VfB Stuttgart brought the young Ristić. After he only remained a supplementary player for three and a half years, he moved to Portugal for SC Campomaiorense .
In the winter of 2000/01 Ristić returned to Germany and moved to SSV Ulm in 1846 and after just a few months to 1. FC Union Berlin . Here he played in the 2nd Bundesliga for three years before moving to Guangzhou in China for one season .
Back in Germany he went back to VfB Stuttgart, for which he was only used in the second team.
The Swiss Grasshopper Club Zurich signed the striker for the 2006/07 season . In the 2007/08 season Ristić moved back to Germany to Eintracht Braunschweig in the Regionalliga Nord. After only one year he signed the Palatine third division side SV Sandhausen a two-year contract, which was not extended by one year. In June 2011 he ended his club career.
Career as a coach
From October 8, 2013 until his release on November 4, 2015, Ristić was assistant coach at the third division club SV Stuttgarter Kickers .
In the 2016/17 season Ristić worked as an assistant coach at the third division club SC Preußen Münster .
For the 2017/18 season, Sreto Ristić moved under Horst Steffen as an assistant coach to Chemnitzer FC and followed him after his leave of absence on January 2, 2018 on an interim basis for 4 days. The Serb also represented the released David Bergner on the 8th and 9th matchdays of the third division 2019/20 season on an interim basis. After Patrick Glöckner was confirmed as Bergner's successor at the end of September 2019, Ristić withdrew from the coaching team and took up a position in the club's scouting department. He is also aiming to get his coaching license in Serbia.
