The Städtische Siebengebirgsgymnasium (short: SIBI ) is a public high school in Bad Honnef in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district . It is a business-oriented school that is supported by the Trappen Foundation. The Siebengebirgsgymnasium is attended by 1,100 pupils who are taught by around 80 teachers.

The Siebengebirgsgymnasium also includes the Feuerschlößchen from 1906.

history

The Siebengebirgsgymnasium originated in 1899, when Franz Aretz from Kerpen founded a private high school for boys with 18 Sexta students . There was still no school building of its own, so some rooms were rented until 1900 in the former Hontes parish hall . On March 27, 1913, the city council decided to continue the private school as a municipal high school for boys from April 1, 1913. The school was named a Progymnasium on October 12, 1918 and was thus included in the list of educational establishments entitled to military training. On April 22, 1925, it was recognized as a full institution and the students were allowed to take their final exams there for the first time from Easter 1926 .

Up until Easter 1937 there were only schools in Bad Honnef where girls and boys were taught separately, but the girls' schools were closed. In view of the fact that the school provision of the girls was specifically endangered, the girls were admitted to the boys' school . In 1959, the number of students was so high that a school building of its own, today's Siebengebirgsgymnasium, had to be built.

School festival and open day, music and reports on the own channel “Antenne SIBI”.
