The Roman Catholic Church of St-Martin in Broglie , a French parish in the Eure department in the Normandy region , was built from the 11th century. The Romanesque parish church has been a protected architectural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1862 .

history

The church consecrated to St. Martin was built from the 11th century under Henri II. De Ferrières. The southern part was built in the 15th century by Jean IV. De Ferrières. Conversions took place in the 16th and 17th centuries, so that the Romanesque components are now part of a predominantly Gothic overall work.

description

The portal is surrounded by three unprofiled arches and the narrow gable is framed by two flat buttresses . Limestone cross arches adorn the facade. A roof turret with a bell sits on this gable end . The central nave, made up of five bays, has a wall structure, which is divided by double-stepped arcades and whose simple struts merge into massive, rectangular pillars . The first floor dates from the late 12th century. The windows are framed by a continuous profile that is decorated with small flowers. The choir with two bays supports the tower on two Romanesque girders . Remnants of the former ambulatory are still there.
