The St. Johannis Church (also called Johannis Chapel ) is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Langenaltheim in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Middle Franconia . It is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Deanery Pappenheim . The building is registered under the monument number D-5-77-148-26 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list. The previous building is also registered as a ground monument (number: D-5-7131-0014). The address of the choir tower church is Untere Hauptstrasse 49. The patronage is John the Baptist .

The previous church was first mentioned in a document in 1238 and was presumably consecrated between 1190 and 1193 by Eichstatt Bishop Otto . After the secularization of the Solnhofen monastery, it functioned as a branch church of Solnhofen from 1534 . In the Thirty Years War it was destroyed. The planned successor church could not be built in 1751 due to lack of space. The original site manager should have been Johann David Steingruber . From 1752 to 1754 today's church was built according to plans by Traugott Friedrich Schuchart. The church was consecrated on June 24, 1754. It was decided to set up the altar in the choir room and the pulpit on the southern archway separately from each other. An additional gallery, the coat of arms of the Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach and their heraldic animal, the eagle, were installed. The tower is crowned by a wide pointed helmet .
