St. Agatha is the Roman Catholic parish church in the district of Embken in the city of Nideggen in the Düren district (North Rhine-Westphalia).

The church is entered as a monument under number 69 in the list of architectural monuments in Nideggen .

history

The Embken church was built around 1553 as a late Gothic pillar basilica with a choir closed on three sides . The bell tower was built in the second half of the 17th century. In 1973 the church was converted into a hall church in modern forms, except for the choir and tower . Almost nothing can be seen of the previous structure.

Furnishing

In the interior there is a Pietà from the 19th century, a confessional from the same period, a figure of the parish patroness Agatha of Catania from the 17th century and a triumphal cross from the 18th century.
