history

A church or a pastor in Berg is mentioned for the first time in 1360.

The three-storey bell tower and today's central nave in the Romanesque style date from the 12th and 13th centuries. In the 14th or 15th century, the hall church , which had previously been single -aisled, was expanded to include two Gothic aisles to form a three-aisled complex. The rectangular choir was also redesigned Gothic and the vaults were drawn in. In 1876 the collapsed spire a result of a hurricane and had to be rebuilt. Around 1905 the church was renovated and the vault in the choir was renewed. In 1956 the parish church had to be closed due to dilapidation. It was then renovated.

Furnishing

In the interior there is a neo-Romanesque high altar with two associated side altars from around 1900. The benches also date from this period. The windows are simple workshop designs by an unknown artist. The window above the main portal was created by the glass painter Herb Schiffer in 1978.
