Haarth is a district of the Upper Franconian community of Untersiemau in the Coburg district .

location

Haarth is about five kilometers south of Coburg on a ridge about 60 meters above the Itzgrund at the foot of the Hohenstein. Communal roads lead to Meschenbach , Triebsdorf , Stöppach and Hohenstein.

history

Haarth was first mentioned in a document in 833/876 as "Hard". The next mention was in 1231 as "silva Hart". The first settlement was southeast of today's town and was destroyed in the Thirty Years War .

At the beginning of the 14th century, Haarth was under the rule of the Henneberger . In 1353 the place with the Coburg Land came by inheritance to the Wettins and was thus part of the Electorate of Saxony from 1485 , from which the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg later emerged. Haarth has been part of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Scherneck for centuries . The former parish hall, a two-storey hipped roof building with a turret , dates from the 18th and 19th centuries. In a referendum on November 30th, 1919, eight people from Iraq voted for the Free State of Coburg to join the Thuringian state and 36 against. From July 1, 1920, Haarth also belonged to the Free State of Bavaria .

In 1957 and 1960, Haarth won the “The more beautiful village” competition in the Coburg district.

On July 1, 1972, Haarth was incorporated into the Untersiemau community as a district.
