Weißenbrunn am Forst (officially: Weißenbrunn a.Forst ) is a district of the municipality of Untersiemau in the district of Coburg .
geography
The place is traversed by the Weißenbrunner Bach, a tributary of the Itz , from east to west. Community roads lead from Weißenbrunn to Untersiemau and Meschenbach .
Place name
The place name goes back to the well in the castle courtyard, which used to provide most of the water to the residents of the village. The addition am Forst refers to the location on the Lichtenfels Forest , in contrast to the also in Coburg lying Weißenbrunn vorm Wald .
history
Weißenbrunn was first mentioned in 1317 as "Wizenbrunnen". According to Schneier, it was first mentioned in 1171 as "Wizenbrun". A manor with a castle ruled the village.
The community Weißenbrunn am Forst was incorporated into Untersiemau on July 1, 1971.
On the outskirts of Weißenbrunn, the Weißenbrunn am Forst viaduct of the new Ebensfeld – Erfurt line for the high-speed railway line Nuremberg – Erfurt runs .
