The Church of St. Alban is a Catholic parish church in Gersheim in Saarland , in the Saarpfalz district . The church patron is Saint Alban of Mainz . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.

history

The church was built in 1846 according to plans by the builders Schwarzenberger and Ph. Portscheller. The church building suffered severe damage in the Second World War . In 1950 the church was restored . The restoration work was headed by the architect Wilhelm Schulte II. The St. Alban parish center planned by the architects' office Mario Morschett (Gersheim) was built in 2003. In 2006 the church underwent another restoration.

Building description

The church building is a rectangular, plastered hall building with four window axes , which was built in the classical style. At the front, the building has an attached tower that rises above a high entrance portal with a round arch . The hall building is completed with a semicircular apse .

organ

The organ of the church was built in 1959 by the company Gebr. Späth Orgelbau ( Mengen ). The instrument, with 23 registers and 2  manuals as well as a pedal , is set up on a gallery and has a free-standing console that is on the side of the wall. The wind chests are slider chests with electric play and stop mechanisms .
