St. Barbara in Pitscheid

The Catholic Church of St. Barbara in Pitscheid , a district of the municipality Hümmel in the district of Ahrweiler in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate , was originally built in 1727 and is now a monument protected. The church is dedicated to St. Barbara .

history

In 1727 a chapel was built in Pitscheid. Pastor Peter Althausen donated his fortune to the building of a church in 1739, so that a church could be built in the following years, including the old chapel. The quarry stone building had rectangular windows with basalt walls and was covered by a flat pointed arch barrel. The altar and two bells were incorporated into the church.

New building

In 1922/23 an extension was made according to the plans of the Bonn state master builder Theodor Wildeman . The now in the east and west polygonal broken hall building with three axles and hipped roof kept only part of the old building in today's sacristy . On the ridge of the roof was roof skylights built. The church outside the village was completely renovated in 1974.
