St. Bartholomew in Barrien

The St. Bartholomew Church in Barrien is a Protestant church in the Barrien district of the Lower Saxon town of Syke in the Diepholz district . It is named after the apostle Bartholomäus , who died a martyr and is venerated as a saint .

description

The year 1032 is given as the year of foundation of the stone church , which is Romanesque in its core . It is an aisle church with a sturdy square west tower. Gothic forms dominate the structure of the choir . In 1954, in the course of renovation work on the choir vault, late Gothic paintings were discovered - probably from the 15th century. The baroque altar and pulpit , a baptismal font from 1660 and a large gallery (1710) with scenes from the Old and New Testaments are also part of the church's furnishings.

organ

The core of the organ goes back to a single-manual instrument by Johann Hinrich Rohdenburg from 1863, which had eight stops . Johann Martin Schmid added a second manual with three registers. In 1966, the Verden organ builder Hans Wolf carried out a major expansion, and for reasons of quality only a few of his instruments have survived. The Alfred Führer company restored the organ in 1999. The plan is:

The organ is equipped with a tremulant and two paddocks (II / I and I / P).
