St. Blasius is a Catholic church consecrated to St. Blasius von Sebaste in Rissenthal in Saarland , a district of the municipality of Losheim am See in the Merzig-Wadern district . In the list of monuments of the Saarland the church building is a single monument listed.

history

The first mention of a church in Rissenthal can be found in a visitation report from 1680. In 1832 this church was demolished and from 1833 to 1836 today's church building was erected on the same site. Between 1923 and 1924 a sacristy was added to the church . In 2005 the church underwent a restoration inside and out .

Architecture and equipment

The church of St. Blasius in Rissenthal is a hall church . It is divided from west to east into a tower with a pointed helmet , a three-axis nave , with a three-sided, polygonal choir closure and a sacristy extension. The windows of the church are pointed arch windows .

The church's furnishings include the high altar with a statue of the church patron St. Blaise, which is flanked on the right by a side altar with the figure of St. Apollonia and on the left by an altar of Mary. The objects were transferred to Rissenthal in 1938 from the parish church of St. Pankratius and Margarita in Niederheckenbach / Ahr on the occasion of the forced evacuation of twelve Eifel localities as part of the establishment of an air force training area .

The organ of the church was built in 1980 by the organ building company Sebald Orgelbau. The abrasive loading -instrument is on a loft positioned and has 8 registers , divided into two keyboards and a pedal . The playing and stop action is mechanical.
