description

As early as 1589, a desolate chapel in Ebersdorf is mentioned, which probably goes back to a late Romanesque building. The first building of the hall church , which still exists today, was erected in 1622 from the stones of that chapel . Three years later the church received a roof tower , in the belfry of which initially two bells hung. The church tower was renewed in 1848 and received a third bell in 1849. Around 1690 a crypt was built behind the altar for Count Reuss zu Ebersdorf . It was walled up in 1857. In 1939 it was opened again to accept the Reuss coffins from the Lobenstein church . In 1777 the patronage box and the sacristy were built . In 1913 the church was extensively rebuilt . The side galleries and the pulpit altar from 1835 have been removed. A baptismal font made of Saalburg marble replaced the wooden one that had been customary up until then. In addition, the church received two extensions . To the left of the portal , a room was created for the bedding of coffins. The staircase for the patronage box was added to the right. In the interior there are numerous works by Friedrich Popp , such as B. the winged altar, a Christophorus sculpture and murals.

The organ with 13 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1913 by EF Walcker & Cie. built.
