history

In 1922 the new pastoral care district of St. Gabriel was created by separating from St. Johann Baptist in Haidhausen . 1925–1926 the parish church of St. Gabriel was built for the 13,000 Catholics of the pastoral care district by Otho Orlando Kurz and Eduard Herbert . The pastoral care was taken over by Franciscans from the Bavarian Franciscan Province , and since 1986 Croatian Franciscans from the Split Province have been active there.

The parishes of St. Klara (Zamdorf) (curate since 1957, parish since 1962) and St. Johann von Capistran (curate since 1957, parish since 1963) were created as a result of the separation from the parish of St. Gabriel .

In December 2018 the parishes of Heilig Blut and St. Gabriel merged to form a parish association.

Bells and clock

The first bronze bell was cast in 1926 by Johann Hahn from Landshut and was six-part (a 0 –h 0 –d 1 –e 1 –fis 1 –a 1 ). The deliveries in World War II left - as is often the case - only the smallest bell . This was supplemented in 1954 with four cast steel bells from the Bochum Association in the same striking tones as the previous bells ; however, a large a 0 bell was not realized. With the parish church of St. Anna im Lehel , St. Maximilian and St. Paul an der Theresienwiese, St. Gabriel owns one of the largest filigree tower clocks in the city.
