A church in Dahlem is mentioned for the first time in 1528. However, it can be assumed that there was a chapel in Dahlem as early as the 9th century. The first written mention of the place was made at this time. The late Gothic bell tower of today's church probably dates from the 15th or 16th century .

In 1844 the old nave was torn down as it had become too small for the increased population. The foundation stone for a new church was laid on May 21, 1844, and it was completed that same year. Was consecrated the three-aisled hall church in the architectural style of classicism with a semicircular apse in 1851 by the Cologne Archbishop John of scourge . The plans for the construction come from the architect Richard Castenholz. In 1907 the church received vaults and in 1908 a sacristy .
