Community Center Of The Resurrection Of Christ
The former Roman Catholic parish center of the Resurrection of Christ in the Berlin district of Lankwitz in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district was sold to the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Germany in 2014 and has since been used as the Church of St. Immanuel by the parish of the same name. The most Kamenzer Damm 66 corner Halbauer Route 15 located building was built by the architect Günter Maiwald (1919-1996) and inaugurated in 1970, still home to the Catholic daycare Of the Resurrection of Christ .
history
The Curate of the Resurrection of Christ was founded on April 1, 1970 as the youngest Catholic parish for a new residential area in Lankwitz. The church building was on June 28, 1970 inaugurated . The parish was raised to a parish in 1971 . On May 1st 2004 it was abolished and merged with the Steglitz parish of St. Johannes Evangelist and the Lankwitz parish of St. Benedikt under the name of St. Benedikt . The place of worship on Kamenzer Damm remained until 2014 and was abandoned in the course of austerity measures; the closing service took place on November 23, 2014.
In 2014 the church building was sold to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo parish of St. Immanuel in Berlin-Brandenburg and has been used by the parish of St. Immanuel ever since. The day care center From the Resurrection of Christ Catholic parish of St. Benedict in the same place continues unchanged (as of June 2016).
Building description
The three-winged, flat- roofed building complex consists of the building wing for the community hall and two more for the community and rectory . The exterior is structured by the multi-part structure , its ends with an attic and the arrangement of the windows. The supporting structure of the reinforced concrete skeleton is made of exposed concrete , the walls in red bricks.
The stairwell is designed like a tower and has a gable roof. Paul Brandenburg designed the altar .
