History and architecture

The church was first documented during the term of office of Bishop Meinwerk of Paderborn .

The building is a two-bay hall with an originally retracted rectangular choir , its core probably dates back to the 11th century. The heavily repaired west tower was added in the Romanesque period. A new building was erected in 1962 for the formerly polygonal , baroque choir. In the Romanesque nave , squat groin vaults are supported by wall and corner pillars. The tower is domed.

The church roof was renovated in 1950 and the bells switched to electrical operation. The organ stage and tower were renovated in 1957.

In 1961 the old church was partially demolished, the Romanesque building remained. The new building was in 1963 by Dean Sander ordained and 1967 by Lorenz Cardinal Jaeger consecrated . In the same year three new bells were installed. A new organ with 25 registers was installed in 1976.
