Church of St. Johannes in Oberfinningen

The Catholic parish church of St. Johannes Baptist in Oberfinningen , a district of the Bavarian community of Finningen in the district of Dillingen an der Donau , is a building from the 19th century. The church at Johannesstraße 24 is a protected architectural monument .

History and architecture

The John the Baptist consecrated church was built from 1861 to 1863. The single-nave building with a flat ceiling and a drawn-in, three-sided closed choir is built in the neo-Romanesque style. The square tower is located on the south side Lisenengliederung , arched friesen and a spire over gables. In 1999/2000 an interior and exterior restoration was carried out.

Furnishing

The neo-Romanesque furnishings from the time of construction are still there. The frescoes in the choir from 1861 are by Johann Thurner from Lauingen . The figures of hll. Ulrich and Afra are Swabian works that are dated around 1500.
