Finningen is a municipality and a village in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube .
geography
Finningen is in the Augsburg region.
There are three officially named parts of the municipality (the type of settlement is given in brackets ):
- Brunnenmühle ( wasteland )
- Finningen ( parish village )
- Mörslingen (parish village)
There are the districts of Mörslingen, Oberfinningen and Unterfinningen .
history
Finningen belonged to the imperial monastery of Sankt Ulrich and Afra Augsburg . The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark , which was abolished with the monastery in 1803. In the course of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria , the municipal edict of 1818 created the municipalities of Oberfinningen and Unterfinningen.
Incorporations
On January 1, 1974, the previously independent municipalities of Oberfinningen and Unterfinningen merged to form the new municipality of Finningen. Mörslingen was added on May 1, 1978.

Between 1988 and 2018, the municipality grew from 1,430 to 1,710 by 280 inhabitants or 19.6%.

The municipality is a member of the Höchstädt an der Donau administrative association .
Municipal council
The council consists of the first mayor and twelve council members. In the 2020 municipal council elections, there were seven council members on the Mörslinger List and five mandates from the Christian Voters' Association.

The first mayor has been Klaus Friegel (Mörslinger list) since 2008. In the election on March 15, 2020, he was confirmed with 81.0% for a further six years.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
In 1998, according to official statistics, there were 109 employees in the manufacturing sector and 16 in the trade and transport sector at the place of work. In other economic areas, 29 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were 601 employees subject to social security contributions at the place of residence. There were three companies each in the manufacturing and construction industries. In addition, in 1999 there were 58 farms with an agriculturally used area of 1385 ha, of which 1123 ha were arable land and 261 ha were permanent green space.
