Mörslingen is a district of the municipality of Finningen in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube .

history

Archaeological finds from the Neolithic and Late Bronze Age were discovered in the area around Mörslingen . In 1985 a bull formation from the late Iron Age was discovered while plowing, which probably belonged to a cult vehicle.

Mörslingen probably goes back to an Alemannic foundation. The place is first mentioned around 1100 as "Mersgisilingin". In the 13th century, the counts of Oettingen and the lords of Gundelfingen and Hellenstein were particularly wealthy in the village . Named after the place is calling lower noble family of the Lords of Merslingen was from 1209 to 1348 in fief . From 1344 the lords of Altheim owned the rule of Mörslingen, which from 1354 was a fiefdom of the Duchy of Bavaria . Around 1400 the lords of Riedheim , since before 1419 the lords of Westerstetten and from 1440 the lords of Grafeneck in the place. In 1381, the Duchy of Bavaria acquired the rule of Faimingen , bailiwick , court and other rights in Mörslingen. In the late Middle Ages, Bavaria was able to assert state sovereignty in the village and incorporate Mörslingen into the Vogtei Höchstädt . The princes of Pfalz-Neuburg acquired rule from the lords of Grafeneck in 1529 and established a bailiff's office in the village. When Bavaria was reorganized at the beginning of the 19th century, Mörslingen came to the Höchstädt regional court and in 1862 to the Dillingen district office . On May 1, 1978 the place was incorporated into Finningen. It is located northwest of Höchstädt on the Blindheimer high terrace.

Religions

St. Martin in Mörslingen

Mörslingen is the seat of an old parish . The church was donated to the Weingarten monastery around 1100 and later to the Counts of Oettingen. In 1312 the right of patronage came to the bishopric of Augsburg . After Mörslingen 18 farms from Oberfinningen were parished up to 1843 and all of Deisenhofen until 1867 .

The Catholic parish church of St. Martin was built at the end of the 17th century.

Population development

In 1840 607, 1875 618, 1939 607 and 1950 825 people lived in Mörslingen. The population was 649 in 1970, 707 in 1980 and 850 in 2000.

Desolation

Bintensmitingen , named in 1366, became desolate in the Middle Ages . Also Grogghofen or Groggenhofen , which is only documented for the year 1496. The Tuifeltshofen settlement , which was deserted before it was first recorded in 1439, has also disappeared .

education

In 1990 a kindergarten with 25 all-day places was created, which is housed in the extension of the former school building.
