St. Josef (Münster Children's House)
The parish church of St. Josef is a Roman Catholic church building in the Kinderhaus district of Münster in Westphalia .
history
The church goes back in parts to a church building from the 14th century. The right nave was built as a leper church in 1449 and equipped with two altars, dedicated to St. Elisabeth and St. Gertrud were consecrated. In 1672 the current tower and a choir were added. The then Bishop of Münster Christoph Bernhard von Galen placed the church under the patronage of St. Joseph .
Until the beginning of the 20th century the church was the rectorate church of the parish Liebfrauen Überwasser . In 1908 the church became the parish church of the newly formed parish of St. Josef Kinderhaus, which included the surrounding farmers, including those in Coerde and Sprakel . In view of the population growth after the Second World War , the church was expanded in 1953 based on the dimensions and shape of the old church. The left nave, the two transepts and the choir are from this time .
As a result of the liturgical reform , the choir room was redesigned in 1971.
The sacristy , which had been housed in the right transept until then , was moved to an annex in 1993 and the right aisle was incorporated into the church.
organ
The organ was built in 1999 by the organ builder Klais (Bonn) and placed in the left aisle. The slider chest instrument has 22 registers on two manuals and pedal , including 3 transmitted registers from the main work into the pedal. The playing and stop actions are mechanical.
