The Roman Catholic Chapel of St. Laurentius is the chapel of the Lorenzen von Brendlorenzen district . Brendlorenzen is a district of Bad Neustadt an der Saale . The chapel is one of the architectural monuments of Bad Neustadt an der Saale and is registered together with the Gadenmauer in the Bavarian list of monuments under the number D-6-73-114-162 . The chapel is looked after by the parish of Brendlorenzen in the parish community of St. Martin Brend.

History and description

The chapel was built in the first half of the 13th century. The massive square church tower stands as a choir tower in the east. It has quite small sound windows with modified round arches and a tent roof . The nave is only slightly wider than the church tower. Originally it was supposed to have a vault , but it has a flat ceiling like the choir. The windows on the north and east walls are still in their original Romanesque state, while those on the south wall were changed in the Baroque period .

Furnishing

On the high altar , St. Lawrence is depicted with the grate. To the right of the choir arch is a Madonna in a halo. The gallery is extended to the choir arch and takes up the entire width to the left of it. The font is placed under the gallery .
