The St. Laurentius Church is a Roman Catholic church in Bubach-Calmesweiler , a district of the Saarland community of Eppelborn , Neunkirchen district . It bears the patronage of St. Lawrence . In the list of monuments of the Saarland the church building is a single monument listed.

history

The church was built between 1927 and 1928 according to plans by the architects Ludwig Becker and Anton Falkowski ( Mainz ). The construction company Maar ( Dirmingen ) was responsible for carrying out the construction work . The stone carving work was carried out by the Gellen company ( Fraulautern ). Due to miscalculations, the first construction defects appeared shortly after the church building was completed. Due to construction defects and war damage, the church was temporarily closed in 1949 by the building authorities . From 1949 to 1954 restoration and renovation work was carried out, which affected the ceiling and the windows in the rear wall of the choir . Further restorations took place in the 1970s.

As part of the merger of the three previously independent parishes of Bubach (St. Laurentius), Calmesweiler (St. Pius) and Eppelborn (St. Sebastian) to form the parish and parish of St. Sebastian Eppelborn with effect from January 1, 2008, the church St. Laurentius to the so-called "Children's Church ", in which services are held that are aimed particularly at children and young families.

Since September 1st, 2011 the parish and parish of St. Sebastian Eppelborn together with the parish of Eppelborn (Dirmingen) St. Wendalinus belong to the parish community Eppelborn-Dirmingen in the dean's office in Illingen .

Furnishing

The organ of the church was built in 1981 by the organ building company Hugo Mayer ( Heusweiler ). The instrument has 19 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal . The action mechanism is mechanical, the stop action is electric. The organ has not been used for a long time because it is out of order due to a defect. In order to be able to accompany the services musically, an electronic instrument from the Johannus company was installed.
