St. Laurentius (Gänheim)
The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Laurentius is the village church of Gänheim , a district of Arnstein in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart . The church belongs to the architectural monuments of Arnstein and is registered under the number D-6-77-114-172 in the Bavarian monument list . Today Gänheim is part of the parish community “Um Maria Sondheim ”.
history
Gänheim originally belonged to the original parish Altbessingen . It has been an independent parish since 1443 . The church's former choir tower was built in 1639. Otherwise the church is a new building from 1971.
description
The square church tower with onion dome and lantern is to the east. Its basement with a cross vault is the former choir room. To the west of this, the new church is built as a hall without a choir partition. It is oriented to the south. Your roof is divided into two gable roofs visible from the inside. The four gable surfaces serve as windows.
Furnishing
The old high altar and the two side altars are set up in the former choir . They were created around the year 1790. Among other things, the central crucifix and a figure of the church patron Laurentius can be seen on the high altar . A stone relief of the Descent from the Cross from the old church is integrated into the new high altar on the south wall of the new church . It was built around 1639 by Zacharias Juncker the Elder. Ä. created from Walldürn . A golden cross hangs over the new high altar . The only side altar of the new church to the right of it has a gilded figure of Our Lady . The organ is set up on the gallery on the eastern wall. The ringing consists of four bells with the tones e '- g' - a '- h'.
