Wulsbüttel Church (2018)

The St. Lucia Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church building in Wulsbüttel , a village in the municipality of Hagen in the Bremen district of Cuxhaven in Lower Saxony .

history

The Romanesque church in Wulsbüttel was built around the year 1200. However, it burned down shortly afterwards as a result of armed conflicts and was rebuilt around 1240. Today's tower, made of wood, was added around 1300. It was rebuilt in 1819. In the 14th or 15th century, the roof was covered with fired tile pans. Between 1970 and 1972 the church was extensively renovated.

On January 1, 2015 the parish of St. Lucia zu Wulsbüttel merged with the parish of St. Nicolai zu Uthlede to form the parish of Uthlede / Wulsbüttel.

Furnishing

altar

The altarpiece is the work of an unknown master from 1669. The altarpiece it contains is not much younger.

pulpit

The pulpit dates from the 2nd half of the 16th century.

Baptismal font

The baptismal font is not made of bronze or stone, as was usual in the past, but of wood. It is said to have originated around 1700.

Other equipment

A prieche from 1619 is also still present.

organ

The organ was built in 1990 by the Hillebrand organ builder from Altwarmbüchen . It has 10 stops on one manual.

Bells

In the tower is one of the oldest continuous ringing of Lower Saxony. The three-part bell set was cast by the same caster between 1250 and 1300. The age of the bells is particularly reflected in the shape: The bells are all cast in a so-called transition shape from the “ sugar loaf ” to the Gothic rib.
