The St. Margareta Church is the Roman Catholic parish church in the Kofferen district of the city of Linnich in the Düren district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

history

As early as the 8th or 9th century there is said to have been a chapel in Kofferen, but this cannot be clearly proven. The first Romanesque chapel was built in the 11th or 12th century . This chapel existed in a slightly different form until the Second World War. In 1945 the church was blown up. Only the south wall has been preserved and is listed under number 39 in the list of architectural monuments in Linnich. In 1953 and 1954 a new church was built using the old south wall.

Furnishing

Most of the equipment in the church is modern. However, some old figures and the old way of the cross have been preserved. The windows of the church were designed by the artist Ernst Jansen-Winkeln . They were used in the Church in 1965. The windows in the Romanesque south wall were created by an unknown artist and Halla Haraldsdottir in 1997. The windows in the choir were designed by the artist Fritz Oidtmann in 1995, who is also the unknown artist who designed the windows of the Romanesque south wall together with Halla Haraldsdottir.
