History and architecture

The foundation stone of today's church was laid on July 2, 1861. The church was consecrated on August 24, 1868. The plans for the single-nave, neo-Gothic hall church with a choir closed on three sides were provided by the Cologne architect Heinrich Nagelschmidt . The three-storey bell tower built in front in the south was added to the nave in 1909 according to plans by Aachen architect Joseph Buchkremer . Thus, the church is not oriented to the east, as usual, but to the north. The church was badly damaged in World War II . This damage could be repaired by 1956. The sacristy was added in the 1970s.

Furnishing

In the church there is mostly modern equipment. Of these, the altar , the wooden stations of the cross and the windows from 1958 by Peter Thomas should be mentioned. From the original furnishings, some figures of saints and a small altar of Mary have been preserved.
