history

In 1340 Kückhoven became an independent parish. It was subordinate to the Aachen Marienstift . Nothing is left of the church of that time. A new Gothic church was built around 1408 and the bell tower was built around 1460 . In 1642 the nave was burned down. In 1792 a new baroque nave was added to the still existing Gothic tower . In 1855 and 1900 the north and south sacristies were built and in 1910 the church was extended by a transept.

Since 2010 Kückhoven is no longer an independent parish. It became the parish “St. Maria and Elisabeth Erkelenz "merged, this was abolished in 2015 and with the parish" St. Lambertus Erkelenz ”to the new parish“ Christkönig Erkelenz ”.

Furnishing

Inside the church, most of the baroque furnishings have been preserved. It consists of a high altar , pulpit , communion bench and two side altars. After the expansion in 1910, the furnishings were completed by neo-baroque altars and a way of the cross. The window was created by the artist Will Völker in 1954.

Bells

In 1902 the renowned Otto bell foundry from Hemelingen / Bremen cast three bronze bells for St. Servatius on the order of Pastor Högel. Another bell was cast by the Otto in 1929. Today, in addition to Bartholomäus Gunder's bell, two Otto bells hang in the tower of St. Servatius.
