St. Michael (Oberheckenbach)
The St. Michael chapel in Oberheckenbach , a district of the local community Heckenbach in the district of Ahrweiler ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built in the 18th century and dedicated to St. Consecrated to Michael . The chapel is a protected cultural monument .
history
A chapel in Oberheckenbach is mentioned as early as the 16th century. The current building was built in the 18th century and renovated in 1929. The chapel has belonged to the Niederheckenbach parish since it was founded .
architecture
The plastered quarry stone building with two axes has a three-sided end. An eight-sided roof turret with a curved hood sits above the choir . The door in the west wall and the windows are arched. The 11.75 m long and 5.30 m wide chapel has a wooden barrel with ledges inside as a ceiling. The choir is separated from the nave by re-entrant pillars .
