description

The church, first mentioned in a document in 1237, is said to go back to the time of Emperor Otto IV . The hall church , built from plastered rubble and partly from stone , has 3 × 3 yokes . Each yoke is spanned from north to south by a continuous barrel vault on 4 edge pillars, into which stab caps cut from east and west . There is a groin vault only above the square yokes of the central nave . The transverse rectangular church tower covered with a gable roof rises above the former yoke in the west . The narrower aisles and the also narrower yoke of the tower are spanned by a simple barrel vault. The aisles in the east have small apses , and the square choir on the central nave closes with a retracted apse. In 1902-04, remains of the original wall painting were uncovered in the choir . It shows scenes from the life of Jesus Christ on the south wall and scenes from the legend of St. Nicholas on the north wall .

The portal is on the south side.
