The Roman Catholic village church of St. Nikolaus is in the Neuendorf district of the Teistungen community . She belongs to the pastoral area of Berlingerode . The church is in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

history

The church was built from 1730 to 1735. Auxiliary Bishop Christoph Ignatius von Gudenus from Erfurt inaugurated the village church on October 15, 1735. Neuendorf there was one in the 12th, 13th and even the 14th century parish . But the church that already exists is not mentioned. In the 16th century St. Nikolaus was a branch of Nesselröden , in the 18th century the parish church with the branches Glasehausen and Böseckendorf . Since 1986 the pastor of Neuendorf has also been the pastor of Berlingerode, who lives there. Church records from 1676 have been preserved in Neuendorf .

The church has two Gothic winged altars that were taken over from the Beuren monastery around 1718 . The late Gothic high altar, created around 1420 with numerous sculptures, with the coronation of Mary in the center , is the largest winged altar in Eichsfeld with a span of six meters. The closed wings show the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ in tempera .

The second winged altar was created around 1400 and is a Marian altar with sculptures of saints, to which a few figures were added in 1909.

The organ was built in 1883 by Louis Krell from Duderstadt.
