History and architecture

Main altar and celebration altar

The building is a short, two-bay hall church with a short connecting bay to the square west tower . It was built in the third quarter of the 13th century using slurry stone. The einjochige Choir with 3 / 8 -Schluss dates from around 1300. The Ostsakristei is labeled 1700 and was increased later. The top floor of the tower, crowned with a baroque helmet, was added in 1712. The church has a skewed plan. The central nave bays are almost square in shape. The eastern yoke is equipped with cross-shaped pillars with half-column templates and stylized foliage capitals . In the west there are strong round pillars and bundle pillars towards the tower hall . In the aisles walled are Wandapsiden to see. The original vaults of the central nave were removed in 1833 and later replaced by ridge vaults . In the side aisles, intercepted services wear single-hip vaults . The walls in the nave are divided by arched windows, those in the tower with pointed arches . The choir was equipped with one- and two-part tracery windows. The columns on the early Gothic tower portal were renewed. The south portal with split gable and figural niche is marked 1712. A spiral staircase emerges on the north side of the tower . The partly unused pillars between the hall and the tower indicate a high Gothic renovation that has been started and not continued.

The organ was probably installed in 1756 by Adolph Cappelmann from Geseke. It was rebuilt in 1875 by August Randebrock . A new building was made in 1936 by Anton Veith using the old pipe inventory. Siegfried Bauer extensively renovated in 1999. The old bellows were activated again, new sliders were installed. Nine registers from Randebrock and Veith have been preserved. The side play cupboard was renewed and the gallery was lowered to achieve better radiation. The organ was damaged by smoke in 2002 and then repaired.
