St. Peter in Stotzard

The Catholic parish church of St. Peter is a monument in Stotzard near Aindling .

Church building

The square tower of the Church of St. Peter is a octagon -Aufsatz with spire between triangle gables provided. It is late Gothic and was probably raised in the Baroque . The nave was rebuilt in the years 1844-45 and the Church a year later ordained . The choir with lower church was built in 1896 according to plans by Joseph Anton Müller. The neo-Romanesque and flat-roofed hall building has a retracted chancel with a retracted apse . The space is structured by pilasters and arched panels.

Furnishing

The neo-Romanesque furnishings were probably also based on designs by Joseph Anton Müller. The frescoes from 1900 are by Josef Adolf Lang. The altars and figures were made in the Mayersche Kunstanstalt in Munich. The Stations of the Cross reliefs are by Ignaz Sager.

Lower church

The foundation required for the construction of the choir created a space below the church. This houses a holy tomb made of tuff . It is one of the most famous holy tombs in the area and is very popular.
